This community service program was conducted to enhance children’s reading interest by implementing the Sudut Baca Ceria in Brangsi Village as a model of community-based literacy empowerment. The activity adopted a participatory approach involving elementary school children and local residents across several stages, including a preliminary needs assessment, the provision of reading facilities, reading assistance sessions, and literacy-based activities such as shared reading, storytelling, and educational games centered on books. The findings demonstrated a noticeable increase in children’s engagement in reading activities, reflected in the growing number of visits and active participation in the literacy programs. Furthermore, the initiative strengthened community involvement in maintaining and sustaining literacy spaces within the village environment. The Sudut Baca Ceria serves as an alternative model of community-based literacy intervention that effectively promotes children’s reading interest and reinforces literacy culture in rural areas.

Enhancing Accounting-Based Entrepreneurial Capacity for Youth Creative MSMEs

This community service aims to enhance the capacity of accounting-based entrepreneurship among young creative MSME actors in Purwadana Village, East Telukjambe District, Karawang Regency, by improving financial recording skills, preparing simple financial statements, and making data-driven business decisions. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach, with stages of socialization, training, and mentoring for creative MSME actors. The material provided includes recording transactions, preparing simple income statements, managing cash flow, and separating business finances from personal finances. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding and skills in business financial management. Participants began to record transactions regularly, compile simple income statements, separate business and personal finances, and use financial information to evaluate business performance and support decision-making. This program contributes to strengthening the capacity of accounting-based entrepreneurship and supporting the sustainability of creative MSMEs at the village level.

This training aims to empower Family Welfare Empowerment groups to produce high-value products using herbal plants. Mint leaves (Mentha piperita) are chosen because they contain antibacterial compounds and essential oils that help maintain oral health. Implementation methods include counseling, manufacturing demonstrations, and product packaging training. The results of the activity showed an increase in partners' knowledge and skills in producing natural mouthwash hygienically, as well as providing basic insights into entrepreneurship. This program is designed to be an alternative, sustainable, and creative economic business, aiming to increase family independence and economic welfare.

Diniyah Learning as An Effort to Improve Understanding of Basic Nahwu Concepts Among Students at Madrasah Aliyah

This community service activity aimed to improve students’ understanding of basic Arabic grammar (nahwu) concepts through diniyah learning activities. The program involved 12 female students of Class X-3 at Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Karya Pembangunan (PPKP) Ribathul Khail and was implemented through material presentation, discussion, question-and-answer sessions, as well as evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring students’ understanding of four indicators: the concept of isim, mu'rab and mabni, i'rab, and the forms of isim. The results showed an increase in students’ overall understanding from 53% in the pre-test to 85% in the post-test. Improvements were also observed in each indicator, namely the concept of isim from 75% to 92%, mu'rab and mabni from 50% to 83%, i'rab from 58% to 83%, and the forms of isim from 42% to 75%. These findings indicate that systematic and structured diniyah learning activities can support students’ understanding of basic nahwu concepts as part of Arabic language learning.

Teacher Assistance in Planning IPAS Learning Practice-Based to Develop Students' Science Process Skills

This community service activity aimed to strengthen teachers' competence in designing practice-based IPAS learning oriented toward the development of students' SPS. The activity was conducted at SDN 98/II Muara Bungo involving 14 teachers through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation and reflection. An active learning and hands-on activity-based mentoring approach was adopted on the grounds that teacher competence develops more effectively through direct engagement; accordingly, the methods employed included material presentation, discussion, demonstration, teaching material development practice, learning simulation, and direct mentoring. The results demonstrated measurable improvements in teacher competence, with 78.6% of teachers successfully developing Science process skills-based lesson modules, student worksheets, and assessment rubrics of good quality and ready for implementation in IPAS classroom instruction. Program evaluation revealed that 86% of participants expressed satisfaction with the program's implementation, and 93% considered it beneficial for enhancing their professional competence. This activity yields practical implications in the form of SPS-based instructional materials that teachers can immediately use, while simultaneously serving as a professional development model that can be adapted by other elementary schools in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum more meaningfully.

Improving The Academic Literacy of Elementary School Teachers Through a Workshop an Writing Scientific Articles

This community service activity aimed to: enhance teachers’ understanding of the concept and structure of scientific articles; develop teachers’ skills in drafting scientific articles; and foster motivation for academic publication. The activity was implemented through a two-day participatory workshop using an andragogical approach that emphasized active engagement and experience-based learning. The participants comprised 12 teachers. Methods used included lectures, demonstrations, guided practice, and structured feedback on article drafts. Evaluation instruments consisted of written tests (pre-test and post-test) and a draft article assessment rubric. Results showed an average improvement in participants’ understanding from 47.5 (poor category) to 78.3 (good category), with a mean N-Gain of 0.59 (medium category) and a standard deviation of 0.08. Furthermore, 83% of participants (10 out of 12 teachers) successfully produced article drafts with a complete IMRaD structure, and 100% expressed interest in attending further training. This activity concludes that the andragogy-based scientific article writing workshop effectively enhanced teachers’ academic literacy competency and promoted a scientific writing culture in elementary school settings. These gains should be sustained through a follow-up mentoring program to support participants in completing articles ready for publication.

Training on Converting Organic Household Waste into Local Microorganisms (MOL) for Family Welfare Empowerment Movement Members

This community service activity aims to increase the understanding and practical skills of Family Welfare Empowerment Movement women in processing kitchen waste into Local Microorganisms (MOL) as an alternative solution to environmentally friendly liquid fertilizer. This program was carried out in the Sutorejo Indah Housing area, Sutorejo Hamlet Village, Surabaya, involving 21 participants. The method of implementing the program includes theoretical socialization, distribution of guide brochures, and practical demonstrations of making MOL using portable plastic gallon reactors. The evaluation of the success of the program was measured through a quasi-experimental design using a validated questionnaire instrument of 20 multiple-choice questions (pre-test and post-test), which included an understanding of the concept of organic waste and the procedure for making MOL. The data was statistically analyzed through a paired sample t-test with the help of Minitab software. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in understanding in the participants, which was marked by an average score that increased from 77.38 in the pre-test to 84.52 in the post-test (an increase of 7.14 points) with a p-value of 0.002 (p < 0.05). In addition, the 20-day fermentation process of MOL proved to be successful, characterized by a clear physical change in the color of the liquid that became a dark cloudy brown and the emergence of a distinctive aroma of fermentation that was sour and fresh. This activity contributes to equipping residents with organic waste management skills independently and sustainably.

Community-Based Screening and Health Education on Non-Communicable Disease Risk Factors Among High School Students

This community service program aimed to identify NCD risk factors and improve students’ knowledge of healthy lifestyles through screening and health education activities. The program was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Kisaran, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, involving 300 students. Activities included food recall assessment, physical activity screening, smoking behavior assessment, anthropometric measurements, health education, and individual counseling. The findings showed that 52.7% of students had moderate dietary habits, while 27.3% demonstrated poor dietary patterns. Moderate physical activity levels were observed in 54.0% of participants, whereas 26.0% had low physical activity. Most respondents were non-smokers (79.3%), although 12.7% had experimented with smoking and 8.0% were current smokers. NCD risk screening revealed that 44.7% of participants were at moderate risk and 18.6% at high risk. Following the intervention, the mean knowledge score increased from 61.8 to 85.6, with a mean difference of 23.8 points. High participant satisfaction and engagement indicated that school-based health promotion effectively supports early NCD prevention among adolescents. This program contributes as a model for the implementation of NCD risk factor screening and school-based health education that can be replicated as a promotive and preventive effort to improve healthy living behaviors in adolescents.

Peer Mentoring-Based Experiential Learning to Strengthen Secretarial Competence of Vocational Students

This community service program aimed to improve the professional secretarial competence of Grade XII students of the Office Management and Business Services Department (MBSD) at SMK Negeri 7 Medan. The program involved 30 students and was implemented using an experiential learning approach combined with peer mentoring through preparation, training, mentoring, and evaluation stages. The activities included interactive training, business communication role-play, Google Workspace practice, professional CV preparation, and job interview simulation. The evaluation results showed that students improved their understanding of professional ethics and appearance standards, business communication skills, digital office literacy, and readiness for job recruitment. Students also demonstrated better confidence in handling telephone communication, public speaking, digital document management, and interview situations. This program strengthens university-vocational school collaboration and can serve as a practical model for improving vocational students’ work readiness in line with industry demands.
