Abstract

A major issue in educating children in the modern era is the lack of parental understanding regarding parenting based on national character values. This contributes to the development of a young generation with weak character and a diminished sense of national identity. This study aims to improve parents' understanding and skills in implementing enjoyable parenting (fun parenting) grounded in the values of Pancasila as a foundation for early character development. The research was conducted at SD Islam Sahabat Berlian, Gendong Laren, Lamongan, a school known for its commitment to character education and active parental involvement. A quantitative method was employed using a pretest-posttest survey design. Interventions were carried out through training sessions, group discussions, simulations, and direct community-based mentoring. The results indicated a significant improvement in parents' understanding and application of fun parenting practices based on Pancasila values. These findings reinforce the critical role of parents in character education through parenting models aligned with national values. The study recommends the implementation of ongoing, context-based, and engaging training programs for parents to support the development of a smart, well-mannered, and culturally rooted generation. This program has the potential to be expanded through collaboration with schools, village governments, religious organizations, and NGOs, in order to create a better family education ecosystem. This can include regular training for parents, the development of parenting modules based on Pancasila values, and the establishment of parent communication forums.
